Battery Repair
Common Battery Types & Repair Guidance
1. Flooded Lead-Acid Battery (Tubular or Flat Plate)
Symptoms: Low backup, no charge, acid leakage, swelling
Possible Repairs:
✅ Check & Refill Electrolyte: Top up with distilled water (never acid) if levels are low.
✅ Desulfation: Use a desulfator or high-frequency charger to break down sulfate crystals.
✅ Clean Terminals: Remove corrosion with baking soda and water.
❌ Cell Replacement: Possible, but not cost-effective unless you're technically skilled.
2. SMF / VRLA Battery (e.g., Amaron Quanta)
Symptoms: Not charging, reduced backup, battery dead
Repair Notes:
❌ These are sealed and not designed for repair.
✅ You can try slow charging (trickle charge) for recovery.
✅ For slightly sulfated batteries, use a 12V smart charger with recovery mode.
🔥 Warning: Opening the battery is dangerous and voids warranty.
3. Lithium-Ion Battery (Common in solar/storage)
Symptoms: Battery not charging, BMS error, swelling
Repair Notes:
✅ Reset the BMS (Battery Management System) if accessible.
❌ Don't open swollen or punctured lithium batteries—fire risk.
✅ Some tools allow rebalancing of cells, but this is advanced work.
